The Healthcare Center in Same

One of my heart projects

Providing Healthcare

Africa is great… a completely different world…and of course, like many other people in our world, they need help/support of all kinds.

I got the chance to do something for the people in Tanzania with me being stationed in Dar-Es-Salaam. Of course, all this is only possible with the help of you, family, acquaintances, friends.

The majority of the mud hut homes in the area have never seen electricity before.

Local women advocate for improved birthing spaces in Kuhawa village

Hygienic Maternity Facilities Lacking in Tanzania's Same

I’ve basically been involved with Tanzania and it’s people since the end of 2011. Through Pam, a local I have known for more than 10 years, I was able to get to know the villages, their people, situations and problems.

She had taken me to the village of ‘Same’. From her comes her husband David, however I developed a similar sentiment to loving the villagers very quickly.

During this visit to the villages, the local women from Kuhawa in Same Kilimanjaro drew our attention to the fact that there is no suitable, hygienic place to bring children into the world with a sense of integrity and healthily.

Private accommodation was provided where treatments/births were possible. See pictures:

Generous Donations Enable Education, Food and more

Small Healthcare Center Brings Vital Support to Residents

So the idea or the desire to build a small healthcare center for the residents was born.

So far, we have been able to do a lot of good. Monetary donations as well as material donations from family, friends, acquaintances, parish council Aulfingen, confirmands Aulfingen have made it possible to support some children with school fees, to provide them with clothes, food, etc. In 2014, with the first donations from family, friends and the parish council, we were able to lay the first stones for the construction (see pictures).

And today it looks like this!

We have already been able to install a solar system. We also had to have the roof repaired again because it was not done well enough from the beginning.

A professional nurse has been recently hired, who will be permanently on site.

Next, we want to drill for water and buy a water tank.
We would like to buy a solar pump to pump the water and, if possible, convert it into drinking water.

Medicines as well as hygiene articles etc. are always needed.

A refrigerator for storing special medicines is also on the procurement plan.

There are about 20 births every month in the vicinity of Same. Our goal is soon to employ a full-time nurse in order to be able to take good care of the expectant mothers. However, the clinic has been open for a long time and everyone has the right to treatment, not only expectant mothers.

It is very important to us that the local people can also get involved themselves and make their workforce available, and thus learn at the same time.

Our Goals

Elevate Tanzania: Jobs & Volunteerism

Our main Goals are:

  • that the villagers/the community themselves earn income, i.e. in the future we would like to see jobs created there, e.B. through agriculture.
  • arouse interest in volunteers who would like to come to Tanzania to work on our projects for a few days or weeks.

We have just finished the process to establish a non-profit organization here in Dar Es Salaam and are also creating our own homepage. Companies can also be mentioned by name together with their company logos who donate or simply offer their help elsewhere.

I always make sure for myself who gets the donations in kind, clothes, etc. The monetary donations are always invested sensibly, I take care of that personally.

Many greetings from Tanzania
Simone with team.
